I am getting ready to change my power steering fluid. The manual calls for Mercon ATF (part# XT-2-QDX). As far as I know Mercon ATF has been discontinued and replaced with Mercon V. The owner's manual clearly states that Mercon and Mercon V should not be used interchangeably. I want to use Motorcraft, Redline or Amsoil fluid. Im rebuilding my transmission and it seems as though Mercon V is getting very difficult to find. I understand that you cannot mix both Mercon V and Mercon LV. But as this transmission is completely cleaned, bone dry and ready for fluid. Would Mercon LV be fine use? Thanks!
